Scout’s Journey is now drawing its wordy HUD when the player presses TAB, it’s pausing the game, and we’ve got a mouse pointer in the HUD too.
This was really easy to set up; checking input and drawing images in CSQC is only a couple lines of code.
Next up; adding the ability to click on stuff and have that actually do something. Probably hook up the loot system to the inventory GUI and draw some placeholder icons. Drag and drop.
I used gnounc’s clean CSQC and I have to thank him for walking me through it, although this is a matter of about 30 minutes to set up. I’ll probably write the SJ HUD from scratch though.
Recordmydesktop makes these videos look a lot darker than the game really is, not sure what’s up with that.
